Flagstaff Finally Sees Snow – But Will Winter 2025 Deliver More?

Winter 2025 has been anything but typical for Flagstaff. Overnight on February 14th, we finally got our first real snowstorm, transforming the town into a long-overdue winter wonderland. The storm, which came from the South Pacific, brought warm, wet snow, a stark contrast to the colder, drier systems we usually get from the north. While it wasn’t the deep powder we’re used to, the moisture was much needed, and it finally made Flagstaff feel like winter again.

A Dry, Unpredictable Winter

It’s no secret that this has been one of the driest winters in Flagstaff’s history. By mid-February, we should have already had several big storms, deep snowbanks, and a healthy snowpack feeding into our water supply. Instead, we’ve had record warmth and an extended dry stretch that has left us far behind normal snowfall levels.

The La Niña pattern that has been keeping us warmer and drier than usual may start to weaken, shifting toward a more neutral state, which could open the door for more typical winter patterns. However, confidence remains low on whether that will bring any real change before spring arrives.

Will We See More Snow?

Looking ahead, there’s a low chance of additional snowfall later this week, but models remain uncertain. While it’s possible we’ll see a small system move through, it doesn’t look like a significant storm at this point. March has historically been one of our snowiest months, so we’re still holding out hope that winter isn’t done just yet.

Keeping Flagstaff Clear – No Matter What

At Ponderosa Pathways, we love the snow, and when it finally arrives, we make sure the town stays safe and moving. Our team was out overnight clearing roads, businesses, and driveways to stay ahead of the warm snow that quickly turns to ice. Whether this is just a brief taste of winter or the start of a late-season pattern shift, we’re ready for whatever comes next.

If the snow holds off, we’re already gearing up for spring cleanups and landscaping. Whether it’s snow removal, seasonal yard prep, or routine maintenance, we’re here to help keep your property looking its best—no matter what Flagstaff’s unpredictable weather throws at us.

For now, we’ll enjoy the fresh snow while it lasts and keep our fingers crossed for more!
